Niort toSaintes

Today we decided to take it easy and not travel as far - BUT we actually did more than yesterday but it was much easier or we are getting more proficient!!!! Many eating places in France are still closed on Sunday evening apart from places like Mcdonalds. Hence last night we had to walk about a mile to a pasta joint in a place that looked like an industrial estate. Tonight we are in the lovely old city of Saintes on the Charente river. It is quite different and very beautiful. The cycling today was much easier although the wind was still very strong against us. The only incident of the day was when shirley nudged a billboard and fell off her bike. She was so excited to see some SHOPS! The only damage was to her front basket which has been squeezed back into shape. Great comments - they are keeping us going.

  1. Come on, surely a couple of happy meals will give you plenty of energy to burn! Glad to hear that the cycling is getting better by the day and to see that Dad is still believing that pink shorts are acceptable in France.
BTW, Andy Murray is out of US Open - 3rd round!

  3. Hi Ub and Shirley, I hope that UB's head is okay after his accident with his head, and i hope that Shirley is okay from falling off your bike, You should have a mcflurry from Mcdonalds that will give you lots of energy for your journey. I fly to New York next Monday and it was my last day at work today for 3 weeks, yeah!!!!! Keep pedalling your doing really well, take care Caroline xxxx

  4. Nice pose next to the sign UB. You hitting your head reminded me of the time you boinked your bonce on the winch when we were coming in to the Isle of Wight all those years ago. You should be more careful, you might hit yourself somewhere where it could do some damage.

  5. Please try and BOTH keep accident free for at least one day.
Billy is looking relaxed against a wall, and you are scrabbling around in a ditch!
Try a Mcflurry - the children like them or as I call them muckhurry!
